This place is JUST SIMPLY MAGICAL. It might be the most magical place on the planet? It’s probably the best winter elopement location if you like snow, ice and adventures. Maybe the most beautiful too. The region of Lappland offers so many options and if you go in the right time of year and are lucky you can experience and get pictures with the northern light!

So the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi is very close to the Kiruna airport where you would probably fly in. There are transfer options but the bus is the budget option and works perfectly fine.
Ishotellet ligger i Jukkasjärvi som är mycket nära Kiruna flygplats där du förmodligen flyger till. Eller tar du tåget till Kiruna och bus därifrån. Det finns transferalternativ men bussen är budgetalternativet och fungerar helt bra.

The surroundings offers so many different activities to do on an adventure wedding. Maybe you love skiing or snowboarding and are drawn to a snow-covered mountain landscape, or maybe you have toured up a mountain where you make your promises, just together with the wind, the incomparable snow-covered views. Maybe you do not want to sweat on your wedding day, so you take a snow mobile or a helicopter ride up a mountain and closest to the sky, you promise eternal fidelity to your best friend.
The place also very close to Kebenekaise (the highest mountain in Sweden) and Abisko national park.

There are a lot of adventurous activities both arranged by the hotel and in the region that you can integrate in your elopement wedding planning. Ice sculpturing is a must being at the Icehotel and super fun!

Dogsled on your elopement wedding?

To do a dogsled tour is one of the most special and unique activities to gild your elopement wedding with. Doing it at sunset ads a little extra magic. There are a lot of different tours to choose from. From just a couple of hours up to a week where you either sleep in cabins similar to the one below or you can also build your own igloo. For shorter tours you don’t get your own sled and dogs but if you do longer ones you get a dogsled training and your own sled.
If you go far enough in the wild and are there at the right time of year you can be lucky enough and do this under the Northern Lights. Bringing a photographer (and perhaps your wedding outfit?) allows you to get unique night images with you under the nordic light in the Lapland landscape!
We used Arctic Dogsled and found them very good. They cared a lot about their dogs which was essential to us. They don’t do any sleepovers in Igloos though so if you want that you need to pick another one.
Det finns många äventyrliga aktiviteter i regionen som du kan integrera i din äventyrliga vildmarksbröllops-plannering. Att göra en hundspannstur är en av dem och göra det vid solnedgången lite extra magi. Det finns många olika turer att välja mellan. Från bara ett par timmar upp till en vecka där du antingen sover i stugor som liknar den nedan eller så kan du också bygga din egen iglo. För kortare turer får du inte din egen släde och hundar men om du gör längre får du hundspannsträning och din egen släde.
Om du åker tillräckligt långt ut i naturen och är där vid rätt tid på året kan du ha turen och göra denna aktivitet med norrsken. Att ta med en fotograf (och kanske era bröllopskläder?) möjliggör att ni får unika nattbilder med er under norrskenet i Lapplandslandskapet!
Vi använde Arctic Dogsled och tyckte att de var mycket bra. De brydde sig mycket om sina hundar vilket var viktigt för oss. Man kan inte sova i Igloos med dem så om du vill att du måste välja en annat hundslädesteam.

Taking a dip in the Torne River in maybe up to minus 20 degrees with the snow whipping your half-naked body on the way down to the hole in the ice is clearly an achievement in itself. But the feeling is absolutely amazing! You just can not leave this place without having done so. Dedicate one evening to this activity. Try the different saunas and hot tubs, whip yourself with the birch bark, scrub yourself, take a dip in the snow and sit down and just enjoy in front of the fire and have a cold beer. Perhaps the best time to do this is the night before the wedding day so you are as zen and relaxed as possible before your wedding.
Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures from this particular sauna ritual (apart from the diploma), but here are some pictures from the Solar egg that was built by Riksbyggen and stood outside the Ice Hotel.
Att ta ett dopp i Torne älv i kanske upp till minus 20 grader med snön som piskar din halvnakna kropp på väg ner till vaken är helt klart en prestation i sig. Men känslan är helt fantastisk! Man kan bara inte lämna denna plats utan att ha gjort det. Vig en kväll till denna aktivitet. Testa de olika bastuna och badtunnorna, piska dig med björkriset, skrubba dig, ta ett dopp i snön och sitt sen och bara njut framför brasan och ta en kall öl. Kanske bästa tiden att göra detta är kvällen före bröllopsdagen så är du så zen och avslappnad som det går inför ditt bröllop.

Traditional weddings are wonderful to attend in so many ways. I love to go to them and I love to photograph them too! It’s all magical!
But it’s so not for everyone. It’s more common than you think to get stressed by the planning, or being in the center of attention, by family dramas and that the focus is not on them and their intimacy on their most important day and so much more.
I want to challenge the conform wedding industry with saying that “you should marry YOUR way” and even if you choose to go another way, your wedding day matters as much! In the end, your wedding is for you and for no-one else.
To be invited to your wedding is no ones right and how you choose to get married is of no one else matter. If you can’t come up with your perfect day I will support and guide you in that process to personalise and get down to the essential just for you.
Traditionella bröllop är underbara att gå på, på så många sätt. Jag älskar att gå till dem och jag älskar att fotografera dem också! Allt är magiskt!
Men det är inte magiskt för alla. Det är vanligare än du tror att bli stressad av planeringen, eller att vara i centrum, av familje drama och att fokus inte är på dem och deras intimitet på deras viktigaste dag och så mycket mer.
Jag vill utmana bröllopsindustrin med att säga att “du ska gifta dig på ditt sätt” och även om du väljer att gå ett annat sätt, så är din bröllopsdag lika viktig! I slutändan är ditt bröllop för dig och för ingen annan.
Att bli bjuden till ditt bröllop är det ingen som har rätt till och hur du väljer att gifta dig spelar roll! Om du inte kan komma på idéer till din perfekta dag så kommer jag att stödja och vägleda dig i den processen för att anpassa och hitta det väsentliga som passar just dig.
